Just Grill It

June 23, 2009

I wanted to lighten the blog up a little bit by adding something I enjoy doing in my downtime: GRILLING.  Now I know that the title for my blog is Hardier<<worker>>, so it would follow that my posts should be work-related.  However, I contend that I was working – workin’ that grill.  So in a way, it does follow the theme that I have set.

For those who don’t know, I am a BIG fan of the Food Network’s chef and show host Bobby Flay whose shows include Grill It and Throwdown.  Past works also include Boy Meets Grill and BBQ with Bobby Flay.  He’s the king of grilling.  I have an obsession.  If I were a 12 year old girl, there would be Bobby Flay on the walls instead of Zac Efron and cookbooks where TeenBeat magazines should be.  I may be obsessed, but at least I can claim that it is not an unhealthy obsession.

My particular specialty on the grill is the turkey burger, which is what I had going last week.

I like to stuff the burgers to keep them flavorful.  My wife Rachel likes veggies in hers so some of the burgers shown above have chopped onions and mushrooms.  They all have pieces of chopped spinach.  I also have a secret ingredient that helps keep my turkey burgers moist and tasty: hummous.  Give it a try the next time you’re making your own.
